I had an idea for a extra stat called marines, which would be where the ship has Troops armed with personal weapons that can be either used to attack/Take over/Scuttle other ships. You could have the Marines cost two points each, like missiles, and they would be 'fired' out of Boarding Craft (Working the same way as launchers). Ships that didn't buy Marines would have an automatic stat of one Marine, Plus one for every 20 or 30 points, but these 'Inherent Marines' (Representing armed crew members) would not be able to attack, only to defend. during a boarding action, the attacker chooses which stat he wishes to attack, and Combat begins:
Defender and attacker each roll one die, and modify it by their # of Marines. The loser Subtracts one Marine. In the event of a tie, the defender wins. If the attacker wins, he now controls all the functions of that Stat, i.e.: Choose where cannons fire, Choose where to move, etc. Then the next turn the defense may launch a counter-attack, using the same rules as above. And so on.
If the Attack Marines take over the entire ship, its allegiance is immediately changed.
